I've been dusting the blog - new lighter touch and all. Do, please, use Links on the sidebar. I've checked them all out - and only some poets have let me down with broken links! Huff!
It will look a lot better in the morning...

DIRECTION
A found object nearly bleached entirely white. To end the year I've randomly selected over 20 images from the hundreds - if not thousands - of photos I've taken this year. And when I say random I mean it!

NEW YEAR AT MILESTONES
MASTER 7-STRING GUITARIST PAUL HILL AT MILESTONES JAZZ CLUB
Milestones Jazz Club’s programme of concerts for 2010 kicks off on Sunday 3 January with a return visit by a master guitarist leading a funky new band - The Paul Hill Trio.
***
Paul Hill, one of the region’s finest guitarists, is distinguished by the fact that he plays the specially built BJH 7-string guitar that creates a much bigger sound than the normal 6-string guitar.
***
Paul began playing classical guitar at about 9 years of age before progressing to the electric guitar and by the age of 13 was regularly playing in rock bands.
***
Soon he began studying advanced concepts in jazz and is now a very successful teacher, examiner for the London College of Music and the author of the popular book - The Paul Hill Guitar Theory and Technique Book.
***
His fleet-footed, punchy playing confirms the influence of jazz guitar greats like Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel and Joe Pass as well as contemporary players like John McLaughlin and John Scofield.
***
Here he leads a brand new trio of the region’s most respected players through an imaginative selection of modern jazz standards by Chick Corea, Mike Stern, Bob Berg, Stevie Wonder and Pat Metheny that showcases his warm tone, inventive lines and advanced sense of harmony.
***
The band’s full line-up features Paul Hill (7-string guitar), Andy Doyle (bass) and Alex Best (drums). Listen to Paul Hill's music at http://www.paulhill.biz/html/demos.html or visit the club website at http://www.milestonesjazzclub.co.uk/
